Recipe: Spiced Apple Cider

Spiced Apple Cider is a cool-weather classic that not only warms you up but has health benefits too! The spiced you all into it reap many benefits on the body!

Cinnamon is an anti-inflammatory agent that also supports healthy blood sugar balance, aids metabolism, and is rich in antioxidants.

Ginger supports healthy digestion, and also can cut down on gas and constipation. Great for when you have any stomach issues!

And clove is another one high in antioxidants to help protect the body from free radicals (and cancerous agents). It is also shown to have antimicrobial properties to prevent the body from unwanted bacteria.

Just to name a few :)

I look for apple juice with the simplest ingredients. Often there are already a lot of additives and sweeteners that you don't need (apples have plenty of natural sugar) so be sure to check and see what you can find!

This holiday go-to is one of my favorites during the fall and winter! Find me sipping on it from Halloween all through Christmas.

What you need:

  • 8 cups Apple juice

  • 1 Apple

  • 2 slices Ginger, fresh

  • Orange peel

  • 1 tsp Allspice, whole

  • 3 Cinnamon sticks

  • Clove

OR to make it super simple, buy a premade pack of mulling spices! They are available around the fall season!

What to do:

In a saucepan, pour your 8 cups of apple juice and your mulling spices. Let it simmer for about 15 minutes on warm/low until your desired spiced flavor and/or temperature preference.

Then pour into your favorite mug and sip up the holidays from a comfy spot at home!
